About Recal

Ever since its inception as Regional Engineering College to its evolution as NIT Trichy, the institution has etched for itself a path of glory and is scaling new heights year on year and REC Alumni Association (RECAL) & RECAL Foundation have played a key role in the development of the Institute during the last two decades.

REC Alumni Association (RECAL)

The main objective of RECAL is to bring Alumni National Institute of Technology Trichy, formerly Regional Engineering College, Trichy under one forum for the dissemination and exchange of their experience, knowledge and talents amongst its members and the students of the College and for the furtherance of fellowship, advancement of scientific knowledge in the general interest of the institution, the community and country.

The Association has the powers to enroll members, form committees, sub-committees and call for periodical meetings and to form chapters in the country and abroad to achieve the objective of the Association. 

RECAL Foundation

The RECAL Foundation is a registered Public Charitable Trust u/s 12AA of the Income Tax Act from March 2004. In 2010 RECAL Foundation was given the approval u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act to provide tax benefits for the donations received. In 2013 RECAL Foundation has been registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) for receiving funds from International donors.

The Core Aims & Objectives of the RECAL Foundation are:

  • To sponsor and support any activity for the cause of Education in the Institute. 
  • To aid and organise activities having the singular objective of providing new opportunities to the Students of NIT Trichy
  • To award scholarships and stipends for study, research and apprenticeship for students by creation of an Endowment or otherwise.

NIT Trichy USA Alumni Chapter 

The chapter was incorporated as a non-profit organisation in the State of California, USA. The chapter received its “exemption” for Federal Income Tax under the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and is officially a Registered 501 (c)(3) organisation in USA.
